“This is a great tome that I’ve already described as “GamesBids, the Book.” The author sure knows his stuff and has mined a huge array of source material to come up with one of the most readable and fascinating compilations of facts and trivia about the Olympics in general and ceremonies in particular. And if Garcia’s not shy of stating his opinion, he backs it up well. Not to mention, that outside (of) some other specialist web sites, it’s probably the best printed compendium of facts and images of Olympic graphics and iconography, a subject too often neglected in other historical tomes, but a never-ending source of fascination to a large section of the GamesBids membership at any time.” – Roland Tellzen, Sydney, Australia

This book overflows with great backstage stories. Where it would be too tedious to verbalize a scene or maneuver, the author uses appropriate photographs or drawings instead. It is incredibly detailed, with well over 100 color photos … I am surprised (author) Garcia was able to gather as many insider stories as he was able to, considering the confidentiality clauses people in the industry are asked to sign. – jfhgyt66
“It is...a treasure trove of tasty Olympic trivia and backstage anecdotes... Most of all, it was a fun read...” Rebecca
“Not only is it full of very interesting facts, but it also is written with excitement, passion, expertise, and fun. Congratulations on an exemplary accomplishment with this book. The view from the inside of these ceremonies is truly amazing. If you have ever wondered "How the heck did they think of that?" or "How did they pull that off?"--you will LOVE this book! After having read the book in January (2010) and watched the Vancouver opening ceremonies last night, I feel an intense intimacy with this year's Olympic experience with not only with the IOC, but the ceremony designer, participants and production crew as well.” J. “First off, there was never any doubt in my take of Secrets of the Olympic Ceremonies that Myles Garcia knows as much as anybody I've ever heard on this subject. And I don't say this because frankly I've never heard of anybody else claiming to be an authority. He speaks in authoritative tones, very much appears to know what he is talking about, obviously ENJOYS the subject matter, DOES have...on-the-ground credentials (having personally participated in the ceremonies), lucky coincidences, or just plain infectious excitement about the event--all the while admitting that there could be the possibility that others might know more about this--that makes you feel he can lead you through the journey of learning where before your knowledge could merely fill a thimble.” Blade
“… this book is eye-candy and a delight to the visual senses. It is chock-a-block with many eye-popping Olympic, ceremonial images--just the rejected production concepts for Beijing 2008 alone--makes this tome worth looking into… The chapter on international meets other than the Olympics, makes this an invaluable reference work.” Mike Dragone
“Loaded with over a hundred stunning visuals, the artwork makes it come alive. The writing is lively, engaging and humorous…”, ChildLover
